Our story
We believe good food brings people together.

Relationships
are only a half-piece until completed by eating together.
Hi, I’m Shannah, a Zimbabwean international student living in Melbourne and the creator of Plates & Passports. Growing up in Harare, some of my most cherished memories were made around the dinner table, where food brought together family, culture and stories.
Plates & Passports is an expression of my love for food, family and traveling. Food has always been more than something on a plate for me, it is my way of remembering my loved ones, the places I’ve been and the moments that have shaped me.
Moving to Australia made me realise just how powerful food can be. There are days when I miss home, my family, and the comfort of familiar places. On those days, I cook. Somewhere between stirring a pot and tasting a familiar recipe, the homesickness eases. This is a space where I share honest restaurant reviews, recipes I’ve created or grown up with, and the stories behind them.
Through Plates & Passports, I hope to inspire you to explore new flavours, support local restaurants, and create meals that become part of your own story.
